News that George Lucas was shooting additional footage for the original Star Wars trilogy while bashing out Attack of The Clones caused more than a few fans to quiver with excitement. The new extended editions have yet to get any kind of release date but you can bet your last Boba Fett action figurine that hordes of us will be making room for them next to our original, widescreeen, digitally re-mastered, THX optimized and Special Edition copies.

AICN meanwhile addresses the same issue with items on Jimmy Smits seemingly confirming such rumors on TV and Lucas himself commenting this in Maxim:


[...] a friend of mine told me tonight that he saw an interview with Jimmy Smits tonight on Fox News. Now according to my friend (who I have seen wrong only about four times) he said that Lucas had filmed some ADDITIONAL footage for SW: A New Hope. Appearently they filmed some scenes of Smits as Organa just before the Alderran is destroyed. Or something like that. You know what it's like having to hear news from "a friend of a friend." Anyways, thought this might be something you might want to look into.

Williams talks re-scoring the OT

TFN reports on an interview with John Williams about re-scoring the OT and inserting the now familiar Imperial March into ANH.


"I am thrilled to have the chance to go back to something I composed in 1977 and be able to make the entire saga continuous theme-wise."

En castellano, viene a decir que Lucas ha filmado escenas de Alderaan con el actor que hace de Bail Organa en la nueva trilogía, y que Williams está retocando la banda sonora original de las películas de la trilogía original.
